April 21, 2014

All,

Happy day,

I pray that y'all had a safe and enjoyable Pascua (Easter or Passover)!

Indeed I did enjoy the Easter season - especially as a missionary. We taught 30 lessons last week, the norm in the mission is 10-12. It was an amazing and hardworking week. We are definitely tired. Being on a mission at Easter, I do feel more in tune with the Atonement this year, it's so much more applicable. So nice.

Easter is basically the same for Latinos as for us although they like to party. So, there were a lot of parties on the street. very odd.

Thank you for the wonderful package. I love the bacon sucker and the spicy sucker. I am looking forward to eating them.
For my part, I have some wonderful news, Los Grim. will finally be getting married in the principio of mayo (beginning of May), and then getting dunked on the 11th of may. Finally, we've been working to get them baptized since I got in this area. So gratifying! Now all we need to do is get them to come to church on time, as opposed to coming in the middle of 2nd hour, as that's the only time I've seen them arrive :). But I'll take is as it means they're progressing.

The amazing thing is that the bulk of the people whom we are teaching are in fact progressing. It's so refreshing and such a blessing. The catch is that we need to keep finding and that's the hardest part of the work, as most people don't care to listen to us. Plus, most of the people we're working with are all formers, and there's a reason that they're formers, so yeah....

But I have faith that it'll all work out, and should all go well. We should have 4-7 baptisms next transfer, making this one of the most active areas in the mission. As we are, unfortunately, about the only area that is running forward, all the others are all in a rut, but  it'll all work out, it always does. The Lord knows what he's doing.

We have dropped 5 investigators but the rest of them look to be really solid. But, I am also somewhat grateful for when they don't come to church it makes it easier to tell if they  aren't progessing, as if they want to progress, they'll come to church.........I hope they all come to church.

with elder Trammell's bike accident, we are biking all the time. As a result, I've decided that I don't like biking in LA, it's not a biker friendly area.

You asked about staying humble and open to the spirit. All I do to keep my heart open is that I keep working, as if you don't work you won't keep working and the Spirit wont use you to find those seeking.
On my mission, I've learned that it really it doesn't make a difference where you work (or where you serve) so long as you work/serve. My comp does really well, he has incredible ganas (desire) to work. So, we are working and working and working. It is nice and it is a blessing to have a comp like this.

Oddball fact, contact paper is a really cheap whiteboard that doesn't damage the wall. It's what we use, and it makes it so much easier to see what's going on in the area, and make sure that we hit our goals for the day an week.

Anyway, that's the week,

May the Lord continue to bless y'all as you choose to serve him with all your "heart might mind and strength".

C
