February 3, 2014

All,
Happy day. I pray that you are well and warm, particularly those of you who are getting pummeled by winter weather, you know who you are. Don't worry, it's always darkest just before the dawn, but I promise you the dawn is coming, as least in 6 more weeks courtesy of the groundhog seeing his shadow.
As to my part, I'm just trying to keep busy and work, although the need is less dire now as Elder Cisneros will be dying (going home) on Wednesday so that's nice, as now I can be working purely for the work, as opposed to working for the sake of keeping my comp from being trunky.
Although my new comp, Elder Egbert, may end up needing my motivation as he'll be dying in 3 transfers, and he'll be my DL. With this change, I'll be losing the sisters that were in my district :'(. Sisters are so nice to have as they see things differently than we elders. For example one of the investigators of Elder Marin, my DL, has been in a relationship with a bucket (kind of a loser) for the past 5 years. She wants to be baptized but she doesn't want to leave the bucket. So the elders' approach is to tell her to get over it while the hermanas said that she is afraid of being alone, as all she sees in her future is the bucket. So, we need to show her what she's forsaking by staying with the bucket, enter Visitors Center trip. It worked, much better than the male approach would've.

Now if only we could have that level of success here in figuroa, but alas 'tis not to be, as I'm moving again, 4 areas and 5 comps in 4 transfers, what fun...
In other news, I beat the XXXL challenge at Fatburger on Friday, so I have a nice certificate now. It hurt, as I had to eat a burger containing 1.5 lbs of meat, as well as at least 1.5 lbs of other stuff, but I was victorious, and man, once again, beat food :). Bound to happen some times anyway.
I'll probably be doing something similar this Saturday as the Elders Quorum is having a carne asada (BBQ) and the main item is carne asada (steak), so I'll probably eat my fair share.
The only catch is that the organizer, the EQP, got called to be the 1st counselor in the obispado (bishopric) on Sunday so he's probably a bit busy now.
Oh well, it'll all work out, as if there's one thing that latinos do well, it's party, and party long and hard. they love being together and celebrating together. They don't always plan it, but they make it work, it's one of their finest qualities.
That's the week,
Good luck all, and stay warm.
C
Elder Wilson
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
