December 30, 2013

All,

Thanks for the prays and thoughts that you send my way so freely. I become more aware of my need for them daily.
That is because I have a most momentous announcement... I got ET'd (emergency transferred)!!!!!!!!!! yay me! I have no idea why it happened though. I was happily minding my own business and I got a call from the AP's at 10:23pm saying I needed to be a the mission office shortly so Saturday morning I was there with bags packed and ready to go. fun times. fun times. I just missed Josh Velasquez. He was in the Inglewood area but was ET'd out to Palos Verde when I came into the area. Four elders were transferred as part of the ET. Serving near him would have been pretty cool - but that's life!
But, I'm enjoying my new area, it's called Figueroa: bordered by los fronteras son, imperial, prarie, rosecrans, and the 110. its a bit big. We live in the SW corner at 135 and crenshaw. There's only one catch though, there's no investigators here. none at all. So, we're starting from scratch. But, I'll take it.
The funny thing is that my new comp is Elder Cisneros. he came out on the same plane as me and he is dying this transfer. So, my job is to keep him from getting trunky :).

Nicole from BG (Bell Gardens) will be baptized this Sunday, making babck to back baptisms...yeah!

In other news, I got to baptize someone yesterday!!! The V*** twins, Jason and (re)becca, got baptized. I got to baptize Jason. It was sweet, the spirit was there, and words can't express how I feel.
I also got to go back to Barrio sexto to say goodbye to the members there (as I was unable to do that 2 weeks ago), which was also nice. Now all I need is to not lose the planner I have with all their numbers in it. Price I pay for living out of 2 suitcases (and a couple boxes.) President says 2 suitcases but we'll see almost everyone has at least 1 box of stuff with them.

Speaking of which, he's asked that we missionaries all have our home medical insurance card from home as well as the church one, so if y'all could send that to me I'd be grateful.
Aside from that, I really don't have anything to say, except that we dedicated a members house last night, as they kept having disturbances from "espiritus malignos" (bad spirits). I don't understand how they are so superstitious, I have yet to meet a white person who has had an actual paranormal experience, but they are almost a weekly occurrence among the people I am serving. It concerns me, particularly as I don't understand why they are that way.
But, I love them just the same, as they are so humble and teachable. They are so unlike the people in west hollywood. In that area, fairfax, there are no no latinos. It's just russians, jews, and gays. and I am sadly not exaggerating. It makes me sad- to paraphrase monty python and the holy grail.
But that's the week.
May God's richest blessings be poured out upon you as you diligently seek him.
C

Elder Wilson

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
