November 11, 2013 (Happy Veterans Day)

So, Happy 11/11 all,

I apologize that I misspoke about when I would be next sending out a letter. Turns out that p-day is today and not tomorrow. C'est la vie.

Anyway, Life is good, very good. particularly as Los V--- are now married and no longer living in sin! Yay! and they're going to be getting baptized this coming sunday, although Elder Martin will have to come back to the Jungle to do it.

We also took the R------ familia to the Visitors Center Saturday. It went great!

Elder Martin is being transferred to Southgate-2, also known as Watts, or the ghetto. So ghetto in fact that he's getting a car to stay safe. Fun huh? He is whitewashing an area (meaning this is opening a new area that elders have not been in and he is training at the same time. Please pray for Elder Martin.

You asked about my area... The have recenlty renamed things here. I am in the same area but it is now called the 2nd area in the 6th ward of the LA stake, or LA6th-2. I am also no longer in the Coliseum zone as we get to be the 3rd zone in the LA stake so we are LA6th-2 of LA3. Really boring huh? Particularly compared to the Crenshaw area in Coliseum zone. It was changed in hopes of better unifying the work between members and missionaries. Not sure how it will work, but whatever.

I am not nervous about my new comp but am mildly peeved as we are about to hit the performing stage but whatever. that's life, at least mission life. Meanwhile, I get to stay in the jungle and be serene... or at least try to be serene. My new companion is ElderTramell, the son of my first DL, Elder Satrye (sat-ray), als known as El Disastre (the disaster - because when you say his name fast and muliple times, it sounds like disastre :). Apprarently, Elder Trammel is a good elder, at least that's what everyone has told me.

Compounding the greatness of life is the fact that my knee hasn't bothereed me in about a week, so I think it's cured, or at least ojala que si! (thanks be to God!) now I can actually do the work that I'm suposed to do, and without delay, as we are "hastening the work", at least we're supposed to be doing so. And the CLAM (California Los Angeles Mission ) is making a huge step in that direction. The CLAM was teaching in 7 languages: English, Spanish, Tongan, Samoan, Mandarin, ASL and Portugese. However, as of Saturday afternoon at 12:23 the CLAM is now the second mission in the world to teach in FARSI... Yes Farsi, the language of Iran. There isn't even the complete Book of Mormon in Farsi yet, they are before it. That's cool huh? My mind is still blown.

A side note, good call on sending Elder Martin another package. Thanks. It's his birthday today. the big 2-0. Yay. I feel old. Particularly as that means that I have a higher chance of leadership, something I don't want, but will do. I just don't want it.

However, I'll be continuing to enjoy the mission I have, particularly as I am getting a car this transfer, a 5 week transfer, with my new companion, yay! Something that will lower my chances of having a bike crash, something I haven't done yet, nor do I intend to, ojala. Although, two missionaries in my barrio recently lost their bikes in the church parking lot of all places. I will always fully lock my bike now, with my cord and u-lock. I will never trust again. I'm so glad that I learned this lesson now as opposed to having my bike taken, particularly as everyone likes riding my bike on splits. it's "comfortable" and "rides well" so good choice with it, Mom.

I also went to a despidida anoche (farewell last night), where I was struck by the similarities of the message they had, that: God loves us becuase we are his children, and because of that, he answers our prayers and does what is best for us,and most allows us to overcome the natural man inside us, o enjoy the blessings he does. We may not like it, but it works, and will always for. That is the promise that we have been given, all we have to do is act, and we willbe rewarded. I guarentee it.

On a different note, I ask that you send me about 30 male and 10 female names that are endowement ready, and the sooner the better, as I'll be going to the temple in late november. The earlier the better. Today if you can. please. please. please. do so.

Say hi to the grandparents for me,

C
