All,
Well, rejection is a way of life here in el campo misonal (mission field). I just accept it and move on. The catch is the moving on, as opposed to dwelling on it the rejection. The majority of the people with whom we speak reject the message, or are to lazy to act upon it. Because of the second of those, we have purged the bulk of our investigators, as they ain't coming to church, as they're "too busy" to come to church, and yet they say they "put God first" So irritating and frustrating. If you put God first, you would come to church, not run errands. Oh well, they'll come around eventually. We pray for them but don't have time to spend with them because of the amount of work there is to be done with current investigators.
And yes it is such a blessing to have leadership with keys, to guide us through this world in which we exist. I received a major confidence boost on Saturday as we talked with President Weidman and he said he doesn't have anyone else who he's have helping E' Howlett through his issues. He has complete confidence in my ability to de-fray the situation, to handle the DL responsibilities, the area and to help E' Howlett.
I am well, just really tired, as I'm effectively running the area solo, as E' Howlett isn't much help at the moment, owing to his stress issues. he's really stressed all the time, as he's a perfectionist, and when things ain't perfect (mission field life) it's a major stressor. I know he wants to do more but it is just the way it is right now. I fully understand that a big part of my ministry right now is to help E' Howlett. I'm really the only missionary who's been through similar problems to him and can therefore have empathy and understanding. I am grateful that I can help him and have him as my companion. I hope it blesses him.
Honestly the above mentioned situation is taking the bulk of my non-proselyting time. My week was
about the same as a DL, although I did go to a training, where I was given a
binder with the procedures and trainings of a DL, so that was cool, and then I
have another training tomorrow, yay! meetings, but then I don't lose anymore
time, aside from turning in numbers on Sunday night, which shouldn't be to
hard, unless the phone dies, like it did last night. right when I was supposed to be sending in numbers, so yeah, a bit of a snafu there. But it all worked out, and I learned to always charge the phone prior to Sunday when we go out to work. Overall, being a DL of sisters doesn't take much time, as I don't really interact with them aside from reporting their numbers, training, and a weekly sitrep call on Sunday evening.

We also got an odd compliment yesterday from Hna Islas, as we were told that we eat a lot of chile, more than any other elders that they have had in their home. I guess that most elders, or hnas don't eat chile. The hna made a habanero/Serrano chile for us. Most elders would at most put half a spoonful on the entire plate, while we put a spoonful on every tortilla we ate, and there were a good 8-10 tortillas on the plate. So good! I love the food and love the members for taking such good care of us!
Really, not much else is happening, aside from the fact that we're trying to find new investigators as we're cleaning out shop. Aside from that, the week was rather uneventful.
Oh, I did go to Downey for a couple hours while E' Howlett had an interview with someone in the Anaheim mission. I never want to go Engish side, they only have dinner 2x a week, as opposed to having 4-5 members say, "Elders, if you need food, let me know, just an hour or two in advance." So much nicer. I love the members here!
Thanks for the help and prayers, we need it, as I'm getting tired. Just keep praying for him, and me, I really don't need anything, maybe an energy drink to keep me awake (jk).
Be well all, and remember to pray for missionary opportunities,
C
Elder Wilson
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
