May 12, 2014 - short but sweet after Mother's day - We loved talking to Cameron

Mom,
I must say, I'm surprised at you, ditching church to go talk to your son, tschtschtschtsch. shame on you ;p. It was So Worth It!!

The highlights of this week were talking with a nice Muslim named Kalil, with whom we had a very nice conversation about how we are basically the same on our beliefs aside from we accept Christ as the Son of God and they do not. He also taught us a wonderful Arabic phrase: "As salaam makalium", which means "Peace be unto you". His message was so wonderful. It is such a wonderful thing to here is South Central LA, a place that is so deprived of hope and peace and yet there are some that have hope and peace through a believe in God and His love. This area is so full of people who want peace but are unable to find it. But it all works.

This conversation came as part of the mission wide focus of fulfilling the invitation of E' Ballard for every missionary to have at least 10 meaningful gospel conversations every day. Today will be very difficult to do so as it is against store policy to proselyte in store, or around the store.

But, it'll all work out, I know that. To quote another guy we talked to a week and a half back. Sylvester, "when you get off the rock, get up, dust yourself off,and get back on the rock (Hel 5:12)." We meet so many interesting people here in LA. What a blessing it is to serve here. I love it and I love the people.

The work though is siguiendo adelante (moving on), however, we are hitting a major wall as basically all of our investigators are keeping the same commitments that they have been for the past couple weeks. We just ain't able to get anyone to progress any further that they currently are. It's so exasperating the raw amount of flojeria that there is in this area. That is one aspect of the culture that I ain't gonna adapt but it will work and hearts will soften I am sure through the Savior and the people's faith.

But that's the week.

Be well all, Que Dios Os Bendigo, es mi orracion,
(May God Bless Us, I pray)
