All,
Happy day and
I hope that y'all are well.
For my part, I
am happy to report that I am once again moving. Yay! the move is being effected
so that other elders can live closer to their area/ in their area, as they live
way out of their area right now. The annoying think is that it means that I once
again get to pack my suitcases (and assorted boxes and milk crates) to move.
It's getting really irksome to keep moving. this is move #5 in the field in 4
transfers). So yeah, I'm getting to be an expert, not that I want to be. But
price I pay.
The highlights
of this week were the following:
1) Getting bit
by a pit bull. Here's the story: We were visiting an investigator on Friday at 5:00 when we came up to
the house. I opened the gate when their dog (the pit bull)
started to say "love me". While I was saying hello he, Bingo, got through my legs
and then grabbed a stray poodle's neck and started jerking it like a rag doll. I
couldn't let the poodle die, as it'd be my fault as I let the pit bull out. So I
jumped into the fray and tried to pry the pit bull's mouth open and in the process got
bit. Hence the cuts. They are on my right middle finger, (see attached pics). The
best part is right as I got the poodles life saved, some other missionaries from
the English program showed up and sat in their car until we came out of the
investigators (Diaz) house after cleaning my wounds. The hermana was very sorry
for the mistake and refused to let me accept the fault, as it is mine. But
that's Latino culture for you. She felt so sorry she'll be feeding us on Sunday,
yay us! I love it when the members give us food.
The family came to church, all 3 of them. We're having a great week from it. We
had 4 people at church and I am hopeful that we will see a baptism commitment out of it.
2) 6 month training.
So we went to 6 month training this week, where the entire emphasis was on the
need to keep pushing and improving as 6 month mark is when you start to lose
your greenie fire. Luckily for me, I've already been out for a while longer than
that so there are no concerns there, as I am here to work, so work I
shall.
3) Getting permission
from president to read How to win friends
and influence people in the digital age. President gave this book to Elder
Egbert, my comp, to help him improve his interpersonal skills. Now I get to
read it as I am his comp. It's a great book and I heartily encourage all to read
it. It has great life skills in it that will allow you to be a great leader to
those around you, and allow you to influence them for good.
That's
about the week aside from much time at LAE trying to get the class to not be
cancelled b/c of a lack of baptismal dates and baptisms from it. We had 11 dates
at the end of December, however now we have 0-3, depending on how the sisters
did on Sunday, strike that, I just found out that they didn't set any.
crack.
This week is LARC week (less active recent convert). Like shark week, but not. We teach
15 min lessons all week, every hour. To put it this way, the most i've ever done
is 7 in a week. Now we're going for 100. Should be fun.
Oh well,
that's missionary work. All we need to do is recover from our setbacks.
Be well
All,
C
Elder Wilson
And ye shall know the truth,
and the truth shall make you free.
