All,
I hope y'all enjoyed conference, as I did. It was a very spiritually uplifiting and educational experience. I feel that I now have something of direction in my pursuit of change. YAY! It was quite a different experience than conference @ home as there were more missionaries in the building than members, for all of the sessions. I was in what we call the J-V Building, as it's on the corner of Jefferson and Vermont, and it's a pure spanish meeting house, but fortunately, there was an "elders room" that was in english. The single most important thing that I was impressed with is the sense of urgency, every one of the the speakers was pushing us to change and improve in a most rapid manner, as "it's getting late". That statement has resonated within me. I need to improve, as I am not that great of a person, and time is running out. "It's getting late"...
I also am glad as I have determined the root cause of my problem with connecting with the people, My old political views. I am now trying to negate them, so that I can actually respect the people who I formerly didn't particularly like. It's hard, very much so. However, It is possible, my knowledge of this is the only reason that I am still on the mission, knowing that I can learn to love these people, as I currently am not a very loving person, and it's kinda hard to get married if you don't love.
as for the language I only have 2 problems,
talking in the past, and the passive voice:
Joseph smith translated the BofM- Active voive
The BofM was translated by Joseph Smith- passive
I just can't ever see to find a time to be able to use it, yet I constantly hear it being used around me. It's really annoying.
Brett:
the words:
"Lo que" mean "what" in any context that is not a question
"Lo cual" means the same for "which"
Also, enjoy being in a functional ward, as the one I'm in Barrio 3 is defunct. There is no respect for the bishop, and there is no communication between the auxiliary organizations, none at all. Also, none of the members will accept callings, so the problem will not be fixed. None of the leaders seem to know what they are doing in their callings either.
and to cap it off: 2 stake conferences ago, some people didn't give the sustaining vote for the stake leadership. the next stake confrence, they got called apostate, and called out from the pulpit, names, addresses, wards, the whole bit. I don't know how this area functions.
As for my needs, all I need at the moment are stamps, I'm out and I never have time to go and buy any as I'm too busy on p-days doing other things, such as going to the alley, shopping, zone activities, ect.
Love,
Cameron
