All,
Happy day,
I pray that
y'all are well, and enjoyed pi day, after all, it's one of the greatest days of
the year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's all about pi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To celebrate, I bought a pie and brought it to District meeting to share. In conjunction with that we all shared our favorite math principle with the group. Mine was phi, also know as the golden ratio (Wikipedia is your friend to learn what it is, nudge nudge wink wink.)
That was
jolly good fun.
We had an earthquake this week. It was 4.7. I didnt realize it at first, and then I realized, and then I
thought... couldn't it have waited 7 min until 6:30? I want to sleep.
The other
high point of this week was when we baptized one of our investigators, Jennifer
Axxxxx, she's a guera (slang for fair-skinned, light complexion person), who married a Honduran, and learned Spanish by listening
to just Spanish media during one of her pregnancies. So now she speaks better
than me. She's weird though, as she's definitely form the south, so that's odd.
But I'll take it as she's been en route to baptism for the past 2 years.
Pictures will follow next time I'm at the mission office as I can't upload here
at the local library and the bandwidth is to low.
The most amusing part of the baptism was her
reaction right after she got out of the water as she said, "so you didn't drown
me then", followed by a laugh. She is so fun, I look forward to continuing to
work with her, although I have concerns about her staying active as she has no
friends in the ward as she's a guera from Virginia. But it'll work out, it
always does.
We've also
seen progress with getting another family, Los Grimaldo, baptized. The Hna lost
her ID when she lived in Washington, making it impossible for her to get a
marriage license, making marriage and baptism impossible. It just so happens
that our landlord is a notary, so he can get her ID, something called (and I'm
not 100% on the name) credible witness. Basically, 2 people who've known you
from birth say that you are you, under oath and put their name on it, and it's
ID, so she can get married and baptized. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! More baptisms. So
nice to be actually fulfilling my purpose, as opposed to just wandering around,
looking for a purpose, and placing LAE ads. The area just to my south, that's
all they do all day everyday. Place ads and look for formers.
It sounds so
boring. But that's missionary work. So is cleaning, at least according to Sister
Weidman, the mission president's wife. "cleaning is missionary work" direct
quote. She also feels that failure is an option, which it is not.
Anyway, my time is up, and that's the week, more or less.
May the lord
bless you in all y'all do.
C
